The aim of the AHRC Residential Design Fellowships: Challenges of the Future 2020<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is to create a better understanding of the role of design research in five challenging areas:<\/p>\n

  1. AI & Data<\/strong> \u2013 Dr Joseph Lindley<\/a> and Professor Paul Coulton<\/a>, Imagination, Lancaster University<\/li>\n
  2. Future of Mobility<\/strong> \u2013 Dr Jiayu Wu<\/a>, Royal College of Art<\/li>\n
  3. Place<\/strong> \u2013 Professor Tom Inns<\/a>, University of Strathclyde<\/li>\n
  4. Public Policy<\/strong> \u2013 Dr Anna Whicher<\/a>, Cardiff Metropolitan University<\/li>\n
  5. Public Services<\/strong> \u2013 Dr Matt Malpass<\/a> and Dr Lara Salinas<\/a>, University of the Arts London<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    and the economic and social impact of Design research.<\/p>\n

    Each Fellow has compiled a literature, capacity and capability review of their theme, assessing the UK university-led design research community\u2019s current contribution to it, the relevant skills pipeline (or lack thereof), and identified recommendations for future action and opportunities for funding programmes. Each report reviews and collates relevant existing research and evidence on their research topic. The reports will be used by the AHRC in planning for future investments and are disseminated here to academic, business, government and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n
